Mr. Kim is a minor character who works as a chef at Thai Fly By, a thai food delivery restaurant operating from a small hoverboat.

Biography[]

Mr. Kim is the friendly chef of Thai Fly By who regularly delivers thai food to Korben Dallas' apartment and is on friendly terms with the retired soldier. When he is first seen, he is trying to cheer up Korben after his harrowing ordeal with the police and Leeloo and reminding him to look on the bright side of things. Just then Korben receives a letter but is hesitant to open it believing it is bad news, but Mr. Kim tries to cheer him up claiming that it could be good news and that his luck may finally be turning around, even betting him a free lunch if he's right. Mr. Kim then quickly opens the letter and reads aloud "you're fired!"

A dismayed Korben realizes he's lost his job, but Mr. Kim cheers him up by reminding him that he's won a free meal at least and cheerfully says goodbye to Korben and his cat as he sets sail on his hovership.

In the script and novelization, Mr. Kim also prepared a special desert for Korben to cheer him up after losing his job made from live squid which subsequently causes Korben great discomfort and a quick trip to the toilet, however Korben reassures Kim that the desert was delicious and his ailment was due to eating the food too fast.
